Clark R. Griep was raised on an irrigated dairy farm near Berthoud, Colorado.  He received a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master’s Degree from the University of Colorado. His area of study was Child Development and Biopsychology.  For forty years, he worked with businesses to provide for their insurance and risk management needs.  He and his wife, Joan, have been married for over forty-five years. They and their family have lived in Broomfield since 1981.  

Clark is a member of the Rotary Club of Bromfield.  He has served as Chair of the Broomfield Chamber of Commerce and the Broomfield Community Foundation. He served on the Board of Trustees for Denver Botanic Gardens.  He was an active participant in the campaign to create the City & County of Broomfield.  He was a City Councilmember from 1995 to 2005 and was privileged to be Mayor Pro Tem for the last two years of his third term. 

Clark was on the City Council when Broomfield signed their first Sister Cities agreement back in 2001.  He joined the board of Broomfield Sister Cities in 2025 and is pleased to be part of this organization thath promotes peace and understanding around the world.
