Junko Goodwin was raised in her family’s bakery in Nagoya, Japan. For more than 20 years, she taught English as a second language and created cross-cultural programs that fostered global understanding and youth leadership. She and her family relocated from Japan to Broomfield in 2014, where they have since made their home.

Junko joined Broomfield Sister Cities as a volunteer in 2015 and has played an active role in organizing student exchanges, cultural programs, and community events that strengthen relationships between Broomfield and its sister cities. She is a founding member of the nonprofit Broomfield Sister Cities Organization and has served as Chair since 2023. She also works with the Japan America Society of Colorado as an educational program development and management contractor.

She is deeply committed to creating meaningful opportunities for people of all ages to engage with global cultures, fostering peace, understanding, and lifelong friendships.
