Cheyenne And Arapaho Tribes (OK)

Broomfield Sister Cities - C and A Logo.png

Examining the past

Pursuing conciliation in the present

Seeking better pathways for the future

About our Affiliate

We are a Broomfield-centered, citizen-led effort that re-examines local, state and U.S. history and seeks to build meaningful connections between Native and non-Native people, in our area and beyond. Our partnership was officially recognized by the City & County of Broomfield and the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes, headquartered in Concho, Okla., at a March 22, 2025, signing ceremony in downtown Denver, Colo. We are one of three recognized affiliates --- along with Ueda, Japan, and Lalitpur, Nepal --- within BSCO.

Our Land Acknowledgement

As a basis for our collective work, we read the following statement at our gatherings:

“As we gather today, we respectfully acknowledge all Native peoples who have lived on this land since time immemorial and all Native people who still live here, and we especially acknowledge and pay respect to the Arapaho, Cheyenne and Ute nations upon whose treaty-recognized homelands we are meeting. These nations and their people are alive and strong today, in Oklahoma, Wyoming, Montana and Southwestern Colorado, and in local urban and suburban communities, including Broomfield.

And while a simple statement isn't sufficient to fully support the rights and well-being of Indigenous peoples, we offer this acknowledgement as a reminder to educate ourselves and others on our past and present history and the past and present history of Native communities in what are now called 'Colorado' and 'Oklahoma,' and beyond. These things are important to know and remember and act upon in a good way, because we are part of this story."

Our Gatherings

We currently meet on the second Thursday of each month at the Brunner Farmhouse, 640 Main Street, Broomfield, and often make available an accompanying Zoom link for those unable to attend in person. Email us cnatribes@broomfieldsistercities.org if you'd like more details!
